CASE STUDY 11
We helped technology-driven in-house venture teams redesign products that matter to customers and their initial business hypotheses from the customer’s perspective.
Client Context
In-house venture teams begin with new technologies and ideas, but a technology’s appeal within the company does not necessarily translate into the same value for external customers. Samsung Electronics C-Lab teams needed an early-stage perspective on how to turn technology into products customers would choose and into business models.
Transformation Design
The Innovation Lab conducted business model design and initial hypothesis validation workshops for two C-Lab cohorts. The program was designed to go beyond explaining the technology’s features and examine the customer situations in which it would create value, as well as the product formats and value propositions to validate.
Changes in Decisions · Actions
Participants said they gained practical direction for turning novel technologies into products that matter to customers. Rather than producing finished business plans on their behalf, the engagement gave the in-house venture teams a starting point for moving beyond technology-centered language and forming their first hypotheses from customer and market perspectives.
